Title: Senior Pastor Postion
-The Senior Pastor is expected to devote himself to the Word of God and prayer (Acts 6:1-4) and embrace, proclaim, and guard the Gospel (Romans 1:16-17; Ephesians 4:11; II Timothy 4:5).
-He will preach and teach the Word of God (II Timothy 2:2, 15; 4:1-5; Hebrews 13:7; James 3:1-2) and be grounded in and guided by sound doctrine (I Timothy 1:10; 6:3; II Timothy 1:13; 4:3; Titus 1:9, 13; 2:1, 2).
-He will educate, and motivate the congregation to be effective ambassadors of Christ (II Corinthians 5:11-21).
-He will faithfully shepherd God’s flock (Ezekiel 34; John 10:1-18; 21:15-19; I Thessalonians 5:12; Hebrews 13:17; I Peter 5:1-4) and protect God’s flock from false, frivolous and imbalanced teaching (Ezekiel 33; Acts 20:17-38; I Timothy 1:3-11; 4:1-8; 6:3-5, 20-21).
-He will oversee all aspects of corporate congregational worship, monitor the spiritual pulse of the congregation, and will diligently seek the unity of the congregation (John 17:20-23; Ephesians 4:1-6).
-He will be available to the congregation for counseling and ministry needs such as premarital and marital counseling, and grief counseling, officiate at wedding ceremonies and funeral services, etc.
-He will work with the Elders to establish the mission, vision, and strategy of the church.
-He will provide administrative leadership for the multi-faceted ministries of the church, serving as an ex-officio member of all church ministry teams.
-He will oversee and execute the administration of the church through appropriate staff and lay leadership teams, and ensure the completion of ministry, business, facility, and logistical support functions through staff and lay volunteers.
-He must have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 12:1-2).
-He must lead an exemplary Christian life and meet the Biblical qualifications of an Elder (I Timothy 3:1-7; I Timothy 4:12-16, Titus 1:5-9).
-He must be gifted to lead the church and called by God, and this calling must be confirmed by the church. (Acts 13:1-4; Ephesians 4:7-16; I Corinthians 1:26-2:5, II Timothy 1:6-7).
-It is preferred that the candidate be an ordained graduate of an evangelical seminary or bible college, and have experience in ministry.
-He must agree with the doctrinal statement and constitution of First Baptist Church.
-He must demonstrate a love for God and His Word, and a love for Christ’s people and the lost. (Ezekiel 34; Matthew 10:35-38; John 21:15-19; I Thessalonians 2:1-16)
-He must have the ability to preach, teach, and apply God’s Word. He must be conversant in matters of theology and contemporary cultural issues, and be able to wisely address them (I Chronicles 12:32).
-He must be a man of integrity, humility, and personal holiness and exhibit a servant style of leadership (Mark 10:45; John 13:1-17).
-He must have the ability to assemble, train and motivate effective ministry teams (Ephesians 4:11-13).
-If married, his wife must be a mature Christian woman devoted to the Lord, her husband, and her family. She must be completely supportive of her husband’s role as pastor.
