Title: Lead Pastor
Seeking Permanent Pastor for Small Church
The Lakeview First Presbyterian Church in Lakeview, Oregon is looking for a half time pastor to serve as our primary spiritual leader. Lakeview, nestled in the Goose Lake Valley, is a small community in the Oregon Outback. The Town of Lakeview has a population of about 2,500 and Lake County a population of about 8,000. Although Lakeview is a long way from big box store shopping, it is a great place to experience the great outdoors and a slower paced lifestyle. Lake County, at over 8,000 square miles, boasts some of the most remote areas in the lower 48 states and offers over 5,000 square miles of wide-open public lands to explore. Our full-service community has a new hospital and library and offers great local college scholarship opportunities for high school students. Students who attend all four years of high school here are eligible for one of several local scholarships. This year over 30 students (about 1 in 4) received one of these scholarships. Each scholarship is $9,600 per year for four years.
Our congregation is primarily of the Reformed Protestant Christian Presbyterian Tradition, but quality worship is more important to us than a specific denomination. Our small but mighty congregation has around 40 members and we are very involved in our community. Our congregation loves music as part of our worship service. We are a mostly older congregation with only a few young families.
We are looking for a compassionate, thought provoking, and inspirational pastor that can relate to everyday life. This is a half time position, so the incumbent will need to be semi-retired, or find another part time job. Job opportunities within our community are numerous and the congregation can assist in finding work for a part-time pastor. We are willing to share a pastor with another church or congregation. Housing or housing stipend, generous salary, retirement and benefits included.
