Program Description:
• Rationale: Helping people connect into faith and making disciples suggests that we must be engaged in our local community with those who are disconnected from church or relationship with Jesus. With a middle school located across the street, we’ve concluded it would be disobedient and negligent for Connections Church to ignore this grand opportunity for ministry. Furthermore, one of our core
values is Equipping the Next Generation: As a church, we will prioritize ministry to kids and teenagers. Therefore, we feel led of the Lord to create and after school program to serve teens and families, primarily from the school next door.
• The Need: The West End of Billings doesn’t have a program like this. We have an opportunity due to our close proximity with Ben Steele Middle School to provide another layer of support for students during an optimal time. Additionally, many students go to an empty home after school, which is historically a time when unhealthy behaviors or activities take place.
• Programming: We anticipate launching the after-school program two days per week during the school calendar. The timeframe for programming would be from 3:15 – 5:00PM after school. We seek to create a fun, safe, Godly environment that’s easy for students to invite their friends. We’re not going for a “church service,” though we do intend to include some “faith elements” for a short portion of the programming. Programming will include a main activity each day like nerf gun battles, bingo, board-game tournaments, and the like. Our environment will include additional activities and zones such as: Snack area, outdoor games/equipment, church game-room, homework room, etc.
• The Win: Generally speaking, we’re looking for fruitfulness. More specifically, we’d be looking for: Participation of 30-50 unique students each week, next steps into discipleship like decisions to follow Jesus, baptism, student or family church engagement, church camp participation, or small group participation.

We’re looking for someone who has a good rapport with middle-schoolers, a strong relationship with the Lord, and a passion for investing into the development of students and families. The program director will plan the programing, lead and recruit a volunteer team, and lead the various aspects of the after-school program. The program director will also spend time weekly on-site at Ben Steele Middle
School and be involved with the fundraising efforts for this ministry.

Qualifications

A Successful Candidate will:
• Pursue a vibrant relationship with the Lord and fellow believers.
• Adhere to the church staff handbook, leadership values, and the membership
commitments of Connections Church.
• Possess an entrepreneurial mindset, creating a new program.
• Enjoy spending time with middle school students with a good rapport.
• Understand the dynamics of both unchurched & churched students participating.
• Have the ability to plan and lead activities for middle schoolers.
• Have a passion for creating an impactful program for students, families, and the school.
Program Director Responsibilities:
• Plan all the activity programing.
• Serve as the primary leader of each after school program event.
• Recruit, lead, and schedule a volunteer team.
• Create partnerships with other youth ministries in Billings.
• Maintain a weekly on-site presence in Ben Steele Middle School.
• Lead and utilize paid ministry interns.
• Help the Lead Pastor with fundraising efforts for the program.
Other Church Responsibilities:
• Meet weekly for a one-on-one meeting with the Lead Pastor (or other supervisor) for coaching and ministry planning.
• Participate in all-staff meetings twice per month.
• Attend Connections Church regularly.
• Involvement in quarterly outreach events.
• Periodic involvement in Western Conference events.
Compensation/Hours:
• 30 Hours per week, 10 months out of the year. (room for flexibility)
• $20 per hour.
• Paid time off accrued monthly. Additional paid time off for holidays.
• Flexible Schedule.
